How long does it take and what is the cost?  Depending on the size and condition of your pet, as well as the style of cut, on average it takes 1-2 hours (versus 4 hours or longer in the salon). The cost will be slightly higher than salon prices, which are based on specific breed types.

How do appointment times work?  We ask for a window of 1-2 hours but we keep you updated by call or text to let you know when we are on our way, usually within 30 minutes of arrival. Traffic and prior appointments may cause a delay. Older dogs and puppies may require extra time and TLC.

Will you come to my work?  Yes, we will come to your home, office, RV park, boat marina, and hotel. As long as there is level parking, we will come! Visiting employers that allow their employees to bring their dogs to work sounds like a great idea to groom all dogs in the office in one day.

Can I see were my pet is being groomed?  Yes, we will be more than happy to give you a tour of our grooming truck.

Can I stay with my pet while being groomed?  We strongly discourage that because most pets are better behaved when you're not around and he usually adds more time to the overall grooming experience. But, under special circumstances, to give you peace of mind we might consider it.

Do I need to be home?  We prefer that you be home at least for the first visit, so that we can meet and discuss the haircut you're looking for in detail. Any other reoccurring visits, it is not required for you to be there.

At what age should I start grooming my puppy?  With a mobile groomer the grooming can start earlier as there are no other pets around to spread any diseases. Most vets recommend about four months of age, which is when the rabies vaccine is given. You no longer need to wait that long when a mobile grooming salon comes to you.

How often should I get my pet groomed?  Every 4 to 6 weeks. It is recommended that most dogs have their nails trimmed, ears plucked or cleaned, anal glands expressed and bathed with a good de-shedding at least once a month. If you want a longer and fluffier haircut it will require more frequent grooming and frequent brushing at home. If you want to go longer between grooming, a shorter haircut would be recommended. 

Why is dematting not safe for my pet?  We at Bark in Style, as well as yourself, strive for your pet to have the most positive grooming experience possible.  Not to mention, a least lengthy one, which is probably one of the main reasons why you would choose a mobile grooming experience versus a regular grooming salon.  Overbrushing a matted coat can cause skin irritation and it is very unpleasant for your pet.  If your pet's coat is too tangled, for the safety of your pet, we recommend that you get your pet's haircut short and start over. 

What is a puppy coat change?  At around 8 to 14 months of age your new puppy will lose the puppy coat and gain the adult coat.  During this time, most non-shedding breeds will develop severe matting, because they are unable to shed the dead coat like other shedding breeds.  Only extensive daily brushing is required to get the dead hair out in order to keep the coat from getting too matted.  We will be more than happy to show you how to brush your new pet's coat and what tools to use.
